Many anticipated a selection dilemma when Leeds finalized the acquisition of Rasmus Kristensen. Does Leeds star Luke Ayling start before Kristensen now that he is fit? Aston Villa is waiting, therefore a choice must be made.

The 25-year-old Kristensen, who cost Leeds United £10 million, made an impression during preseason.

He was a star defender in Austria and was regarded as one of, if not the best, in the league. But so far, he has had trouble adjusting to life in England.

Even he acknowledged how surprised he was by the Premier League’s pace and toughness.

His performance has fluctuated, and Kristensen has yet to establish the marauding right-back style that so captivated many in Austria.

Ayling is now healthy and played for 80 minutes in a 6-2 PL2 victory against Brentford before coming on as a substitute.

Jesse Marsch is now dealing with a selection headache. Start the unproven Kristensen or go back to the seasoned Ayling?

Kristensen received his tenth cap on Sunday and made his Nations League debut for Denmark against France. Kristensen reminded everyone what he is capable of in Copenhagen by playing all bar the final few minutes of injury time.

Despite facing Antoine Griezmann and Kylian Mbappe, the right back put up a strong display.

Leeds scouts would have been overjoyed if they had been monitoring his performances, which is a given.

On Monday morning, they would let Marsch know how great Kristensen was. Although more committed in defence than he has been thus far while wearing a Leeds jersey, he is as effective as Leeds knows he can be moving forward. A decision is still expected on Sunday.

Marsch, however, might have simply received the solution. Given that Kristensen is six years younger than Ayling, he is Leeds’ right-back of the future. With some of his confidence returning, Marsch must choose to play his new signing on Sunday.
