Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou will be without defender Stephen Welsh for the team’s match against Aberdeen today due to injury.
The Hoops have not played a competitive match in five weeks, with their last game being a 2-1 win over Ross County before the break for the World Cup.
Today’s match against Aberdeen presents an opportunity for Celtic to increase their lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership to nine points with a win.
However, Postecoglou has received a blow with the news that Welsh has suffered a “niggle” injury and will be sidelined for a couple of weeks.
There is some good news, as Callum McGregor is set to return, and Cameron Carter-Vickers, Aaron Mooy, and Daizen Maeda are available following their stints in Qatar for their respective countries.
Welsh, who has made four Premiership starts this season, was likely hoping to be included in the squad for the Aberdeen match.
His injury is not ideal for either him or Postecoglou, but it is hoped that he will be able to make a quick recovery and be available early in the new year. The second half of the season is expected to be busy for the Hoops.
