Arsenal may have slipped up against Liverpool, but Jamie Carragher believes that they still hold a clear advantage over Manchester City in the Premier League title race.
This is because Pep Guardiola’s focus on winning a treble could impact his team’s chances in the league. City currently have a game in hand, which will soon become two. They have a busy schedule with eight games in April, including a Champions League quarter-final and an FA Cup semi-final. This will take a toll on Guardiola’s squad and may result in him tinkering with his favored starting XI in some league fixtures.
On the other hand, Arsenal only have two Premier League games to prepare for against West Ham and Southampton. Furthermore, they have already played twice against City, and although they lost, they showed that they can compete with the reigning champions. While the title is still in City’s hands, Arsenal has a relatively easier run-in, and they can take advantage of any slip-ups from their rivals.
Gary Neville on the other hand believes that City will win the league, but he expects both teams to drop points in the remaining fixtures. He thinks that Arsenal will drop more points, particularly in their upcoming games against Newcastle, West Ham, and City. However, Neville was impressed with Arsenal’s performance against Liverpool and believes that they can be proud of their display.
