On Tuesday evening, the body of George Magoha’s younger brother, the former Education Cabinet secretary, arrived in Kenya.
On a KLM flight, Richard Alex Nyabera Magoha’s body and roughly ten family members arrived.
About six hours had passed since Prof. Magoha’s passing.
According to witnesses, the body and family arrived around 11 p.m.
While returning to Kenya, the family learned of Prof. Magoha’s passing.
When they arrived at the airport, they were heartbroken. Government representatives helped them transfer Prof. Richard’s remains to the funeral home where his older brother, Prof. Magoha, is lying.
Following a heart attack, Prof. Magoha, 71, passed away on Tuesday at the Nairobi Hospital.
He died just hours before his younger brother’s remains arrived at Nairobi’s JKIA in preparation for Saturday’s burial.
“Prof Magoha was busy with the funeral arrangements of his younger brother. He even did not respond to my calls for the first time on Sunday,” a colleague Prof Walter Mwanda said.
“The cortege will leave Agha Khan Funeral Home Kisumu, on Saturday, January 28, for a memorial requiem mass at Township Primary School Yala at 10am followed by intermittent at his Umiru home in Yala, Gem, subcounty,” his obituary read.
