Brighton is reportedly interested in signing Liverpool’s James Milner when his contract expires in the summer.
Milner has been at Liverpool for eight years and though Jurgen Klopp would like to keep him, the club has not offered him a contract extension.
Milner is one of the most experienced players in Premier League history and has played for Leeds, Newcastle United, Aston Villa, and Manchester City.
He has 600 Premier League appearances, placing him third on the all-time list behind Gareth Barry and Ryan Giggs.
Despite continuing to feature regularly for Klopp’s side, Milner seems likely to leave Liverpool this summer as they rebuild their midfield, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita also out of contract.
Brighton is reportedly interested in bringing Milner to the Amex in the summer, as Roberto De Zerbi is keen to acquire his experience and versatility, especially if Brighton plays in Europe next season.
However, newly promoted Burnley is also interested in Milner’s services, and their manager Vincent Kompany, who captained Milner at City, may have an advantage in this transfer race.
Liverpool faces a crucial game against Spurs on Sunday, while Brighton hosts Wolves on Saturday.
Brighton is currently four points off seventh-placed Liverpool but has games in hand over their main rivals for the European spaces, which include Liverpool, Aston Villa, and Tottenham.
