Five important West Ham United players will likely miss this weekend’s match against Manchester United due to a confirmed Jarrod Bowen injury.
West Ham advanced to the round of 16 of the European competition with a 1-0 victory over Silkeborg of Denmark on Thursday night at the London Stadium.
On Sunday, focus will shift to David Moyes’ former team, Manchester United.
The competition the Hammers have faced this week, which included victories over Bournemouth on Monday and then Silkeborg three days later, will be significantly improved by a trip to a rapidly developing Man United in the Premier League.
The European berths and Man United are both within striking reach of West Ham.
Recent West Ham absences include standout defender Craig Dawson, record signing Lucas Paqueta, and £17.5 million summer acquisition Maxwel Cornet.
Following a setback in his calf injury recovery, Cornet has been ruled out, and Moyes thinks Paqueta and Dawson will likely not play against Manchester United.
Nayef Aguerd, who made his competitive debut on Thursday night following an injury, looked impressive, according to the Hammers manager, will not be risked in Premier League games.
Now that Jarrod Bowen’s injury has been officially verified, five important West Ham players will likely miss the Man United game.
“Jarrod Bowen had a bit of an ankle injury,” Moyes said ahead of the Red Devils clash (Football.London).
“I will asses it tomorrow, see how he is.
“I don’t know yet (if it is a serious injury), I don’t think it’s too bad but we will see tomorrow (Friday).”
