Hatutishwi! Raila insists Jacaranda rally will go on as planned

Raila Odinga, the leader of Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance, has stated that their planned rally at Jacaranda grounds will still take place on Sunday, despite any intimidation. He referred to the rally as “No Handshake”.

In a tweet, Odinga emphasized that he will not be deterred from holding the rally and urged supporters to attend.

This statement comes in response to President William Ruto’s recent comments, in which he stated that he will not allow the Azimio rallies to distract him from fulfilling his duties to the people of Kenya.

Ruto also accused the Azimio leaders of taking advantage of the citizens by requesting their attendance at rallies while their own children are abroad in places like Arusha and Europe.

“I want to ask you that you have taken your children to parliament in Arusha and others in Europe and then children who belong to Kenyans you want to take them to Jacaranda and Kamukunji, what do you take Kenyans for?” He said.

“I will not accept other people to distract me to plan their things and leave the work I am supposed to do for Kenyans. That one I will not do. We should agree on this early.”

Ruto believes that the rallies are part of the Azimio leaders’ strategy to maintain relevance as they aspire to hold higher office in the future.

On Monday, Odinga held a rally in Kamukunji where he declared that he does not recognize Ruto as the president.
