Four new actors have been announced for the second season of “House of the Dragon,” following the release of the first set photo two weeks ago.
“Variety” reported that Gayle Rankin will play the healer Alys Rivers. Simon Russell Beale will play Ser Simon Strong, the great uncle of Matthew Needham’s Lord Larys Strong. Freddie Fox will play Ser Gwayne Hightower, the son of Rhys Ifans’ Otto Hightower. Abubakar Salim will play the sailor Alyn of Hull. All four characters will appear in the upcoming eight-episode season.
“House of the Dragon” is based on George R.R. Martin’s “Fire & Blood,” which depicts the rise and fall of the Targaryens, the only dragonlord family to survive the Doom of Valyria. The show is set 200 years prior to the events of “Game of Thrones.” The first season starred Paddy Considine, Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, and Emma D’Arcy as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, along with others.
With the addition of these new characters, fans are eagerly anticipating what season 2 will bring to the table. Each new character brings unique abilities and storylines, giving the audience more reasons to tune in. The show’s popularity has only grown since its first season. It seems that season 2 will continue to deliver the same level of high-quality storytelling and acting that fans have come to expect from the “Game of Thrones” universe.
