Leeds United may face a challenge when they take on Manchester City in the Premier League later this month, as goalkeeper Illan Meslier is still recovering from glandular fever.
Despite this, Leeds have been working to prepare for the return of the Premier League by participating in friendly matches.
However, coach Jesse Marsch is unable to field his full strength lineup due to ongoing issues with injuries and illness.
In a recent friendly against Real Sociedad, Kristoffer Klaesson and Joel Robles each played for 45 minutes, and Leeds emerged victorious with a 2-1 win. Both players appeared confident in their efforts.
Meslier’s absence is a concern for Marsch as the team gears up for their first Premier League match against Manchester City in just over a week. Losing Meslier as the starting goalkeeper would be a significant blow.
However, Robles has demonstrated his skills in recent friendlies, as well as in a cup match against Wolves.
It’s clear why the club brought in an experienced backup like Robles, who has previous Premier League experience with Wigan and Everton.
While Robles may not be the deciding factor in the match against Manchester City, it’s reassuring to know that the team has a reliable option between the sticks.
