Luis Enrique is being considered as a potential candidate for the vacant manager position at Chelsea, following the sacking of Graham Potter after the team’s 2-0 loss to Aston Villa.
Although Potter’s assistant, Bruno Saltor, took charge of the 0-0 draw against Liverpool, the club is yet to appoint a new manager.
Enrique, who has previously managed Barcelona and the Spanish national team, has expressed his desire to work in the Premier League.
Enrique has been out of work since leaving his position as coach of the Spanish national team after their disappointing performance in the 2022 World Cup.
He has won the Champions League as a head coach and coached some of the greatest football players, including Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, and Neymar.
Despite rumors linking him to the Brazil national team job, Enrique is reportedly focused on the Chelsea job.
Enrique is said to be a top candidate for the job alongside Julian Nagelsmann, although the club has not yet made a decision.
His wife’s willingness to move to the UK may be a factor in his decision to accept the job, as she has reportedly turned down jobs in the Premier League in the past due to the weather.
Enrique is eager to return to coaching and has expressed his desire to be back at work soon after the World Cup.
Enrique was previously linked with the Manchester United job in 2013 and again in 2018, but he was not appointed on either occasion.
His experience coaching top-level teams, along with his desire to work in the Premier League, make him a strong contender for the Chelsea job.
