As we approach the final stretch of the 2022/23 Premier League season, the relegation battle is hotter than ever. Nine clubs are separated by just 11 points. With only a handful of games left to play, the tension is palpable. Any of these teams could potentially find themselves in the dreaded drop zone.
Southampton
At the bottom of the table, Southampton are in a perilous position. The saints have won just two of their nine league games since Ruben Selles’ appointment as manager this season. Their lack of consistency has left them struggling in the final third and vulnerable at the back. Southampton are currently rooted to the bottom of the table.
Nottingham Forest
Nottingham Forest, will be hoping to make a lasting impression in their return to the top flight. However, with just one win in their last nine games, they are currently languishing in 18th place. Steve Cooper, is known for producing miracles and taking Nottingham from the bottom of the Championship to the Premier League. However, he will need to work his magic once again if Forest are to survive this season.
Leicester City
Leicester City, who have had a rollercoaster season, are currently in 19th place, having suffered four straight defeats recently. Their loss to Crystal Palace ultimately led to Brendan Rodgers being sacked. Dean Smith has since taken over as the new coach. With crucial games against Wolves, Leeds, and Everton coming up, Leicester will need to dig deep if they are to avoid the drop.
Everton
Everton, who narrowly escaped relegation last season, have had a tough time in the 2022/23 season. Although they have climbed up to 16th place, they are still in the relegation zone and will need to continue their good form if they are to survive. Sean Dyche, will be hoping to bring stability to the club and help them avoid relegation once again.
Bournemouth
Bournemouth, who sacked Scott Parker early in the season, have been inconsistent throughout the campaign. However, they have produced some impressive results in recent weeks, including wins against Tottenham and Liverpool. With four wins in their last six games, they are currently 15th in the table.
Leeds
Leeds United, who started the season well under Jesse Marsch, have sttruggled and are currently 16th in the table. After suffering a 5-1 defeat to Crystal Palace, they will need to regroup quickly if they are to avoid the drop. Javi Gracia, who took over from Marsch, will be hoping to steer Leeds to safety in the remaining games.
Wolves
Wolves, who are currently in 13th place, are not yet safe from relegation. They only have a seven-point cushion separating them from the bottom three. Although they have had some positive results recently, they will need to continue their good form if they are to avoid being dragged into a relegation battle.
West Ham
West Ham, who have had a mixed season so far, are in 12th place and have just four wins in their last 17 league games. Although they have had some positive results, they will need to find more consistency if they are to finish the season strongly and avoid being dragged into a relegation battle.
