Raila denied entry into DCI headquarters

As supporters continued to swarm the Directorate of Criminal Investigations headquarters on Tuesday, Azimio leader Raila was requested to leave.

A large group of Azimio supporters congregated around Mazingira House on Kiambu Road.

Raila had been driven to the DCI headquarters, where former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i was taking a statement.

Head of Police Operations at the DCI Said Kiprotich and Head of Investigations Eliud Lagat emerged to talk with Raila at the entrance shortly after he arrived.

They informed Raila that it was unnecessary for him to be present at the DCI offices because it was causing conflict.

“I am under instruction that none of you should be allowed to come in,” a police officer told Raila, in a heated argument at the gate.

Matiang’i was present at the offices taking a statement in connection with an alleged raid on his Karen home last month,.

The police officers who were preventing Raila from entering the DCI offices were severely reprimanded by him.

“I am a public officer, I cannot be barred from a public office, I have to see the director, what law is that,” Raila charged.
