Burnley has expressed interest in signing Rangers winger Ryan Kent, as they prepare to return to the English Premier League.

Kent’s current contract with Rangers is coming to an end, and he is likely to leave the Scottish Premiership club, where he has been for the last four years. Vincent Kompany, the Burnley manager, has been linked with the 26-year-old.

According to the Daily Mail, Burnley has declared their interest in Kent and has also scouted Aberdeen striker Duk, although some reports suggest that the club is not interested in the Portuguese player.

Kent and Alfredo Morelos, both Rangers players, are expected to leave the club at the end of the season, leaving Rangers with a significant recruitment challenge for the summer. However, the Daily Mail reports that 24-year-old Ecuadorian Jose Cifuentes is unlikely to be a target.

Cifuentes, who currently plays for Los Angeles FC, is being pursued by several European clubs, including Rangers. The midfielder’s contract with the American club will expire in a year.

Steven Gerrard could be making a monumental Rangers transfer decision this summer

Reports suggest that former Rangers manager Steven Gerrard and ex-Ibrox midfielder Gennaro Gattuso are competing for the Olympiakos manager’s job.

According to Greek outlet Protatlitis, Gerrard is Olympiakos’ backup choice if their pursuit of Gattuso falls through.

Gattuso, a former Italian World Cup winner who spent a year at Rangers in 1998, was dismissed by La Liga side Valencia earlier this season and has been out of work since then.

These reports emerged after Gerrard claimed that he had declined job offers at both club and international level following his dismissal from Aston Villa and that Olympiakos was a fascinating option.

“You have to reset, wait and be patient for the fire and fight to return,” said Steven Gerrard.

“I’ve been offered opportunities to manage at club and international level since I left Villa, including an exciting opportunity in an overseas league, but none have been right for me at this time.

“In the meantime, I’m enjoying being an Uber driver for my girls and my little boy.”

The reports linking Steven Gerrard to the Olympiakos job are coming at an interesting time for Rangers.

The Glasgow club has been rumored to be interested in signing one of Olympiakos’ best players, Korean midfielder Hwang In-Beom, during the upcoming transfer window.

Despite the speculation, Olympiakos is said to be demanding around £13m for In-Beom. If either Gennaro Gattuso or Steven Gerrard lands the manager role at the Greek side, they could potentially be the ones negotiating the deal for the coveted midfielder.
