According to reports, Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku may be given the chance to revive his career with the club under incoming manager Mauricio Pochettino.
Lukaku will be asked if he’s interested in the opportunity, which could potentially turn his stagnating career around.
Chelsea are said to be close to appointing Mauricio Pochettino as their permanent manager, taking over from interim boss Frank Lampard at the end of the season.
The club is now considering which players could thrive under the Argentine’s management, with Lukaku being one of them.
Lukaku’s return to Chelsea for a record-breaking transfer fee of £97.5 million ($120.9m) in 2021 was disastrous, as he only managed eight goals in 26 Premier League games and had a falling out with Thomas Tuchel.
He also caused controversy with an interview in which he expressed regret for leaving Inter.
Although he returned to Inter on loan and scored just five times in Serie A this season, Pochettino may see potential in reintegrating him into Chelsea’s squad.
Despite Lukaku’s potential future with the club, Chelsea will need to sell some players this season after spending a massive £600 million ($744m) on transfers over the past two windows and failing to qualify for the Champions League.
Many stars, including Mason Mount, have been linked with a move away from the club in the upcoming summer transfer window.
