West Ham is reportedly confident of signing Federico Dimarco, Inter Milan’s defender, if they avoid relegation from the Premier League.
However, Manchester City is also interested in him, and both teams might have to compete to secure the player’s signature.
According to Inter Live, West Ham is hoping to strike a deal with Inter that would involve Emerson Palmieri and bring Dimarco to the club. Dimarco is one of West Ham’s primary targets for a full-back position.
90min reports that Manchester City is also keen on signing Dimarco, who is valued at £40m.
The defender had an excellent season for Inter, where he scored four goals and assisted seven others, cementing his place as a regular in the squad.
Dimarco’s recent two assists against Benfica in the Champions League could further increase his value, making it difficult for West Ham to secure his services even if they avoid relegation.
Moreover, the Hammers lack the financial power to compete with Manchester City in the transfer market.
Given the growing interest in Dimarco, West Ham should reconsider their options for a left-back position.
They may need to look for players who are not competing in the Champions League, as they may not be able to attract top-tier talent like Dimarco.
It appears that the defender is on course to join one of the most prominent clubs in Europe.
