Dean Jones claims that Craig Dawson is eager to leave the London Stadium and that West Ham United want to keep him there.

After failing to recruit a replacement, the Irons prevented the 32-year-old’s transfer to Wolves on deadline day (talkSPORT’s Alex Crook, 1 September).

After months of speculation about his future, it now seems the club would prefer the resolute defender to stay at the London Stadium.

Former Bleacher Report journalist Jones told GIVEMESPORT (19 September): “I think West Ham would like him to stay, ideally, but they are going to be pretty respectful to whatever Dawson wants at this stage.”

West Ham should make every effort to avoid having a dissatisfied player on their team, notwithstanding their desire to keep Dawson at the club. His stay at the London Stadium is coming to an end, and it is obvious that he wants to be closer to his family.

With so many defensive options available to David Moyes, the club should have no trouble letting Dawson leave when he recovers from his injury.

Dawson is placed above Aguerd, Kehrer, and Zouma in the pecking order. The former West Brom defender’s future with the team is now difficult to predict.
